What is the ideal Temperature?
The ideal temperature to set your air conditioner depends on the time of day and the season: Summer The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recommends setting your thermostat to 78°F during the day. This temperature balances comfort and energy savings, and it also helps the environment. Winter The DOE recommends setting your thermostat to 68°F during the day, and lowering it when you're asleep at night. Sleeping Medical experts suggest setting your thermostat to around 65°F while you sleep to help prevent heat-related conditions. Evening In late summer and early fall, you might need to set your thermostat to 72–74°F in the evening if you have people home and active. You can also consider the following factors when setting your thermostat: Your belongings Certain materials, like wood, need to be kept at specific temperatures to stay in good shape. Your pets Don't set the temperature higher than 80°F for your pets' health and safety. Electronics Higher temperatures can make it harder for your electronics to run properly. Circulating air Use fans to circulate air throughout your home and prevent it from getting too hot.
